Marrow March

Games like Sir, We Have an Orc Problem

Updated

Sir, We Have an Orc Problem made a simple idea hard to put down: an overwhelming horde, short runs, and an upgrade tree that every run pays into, won or lost. If you have reached the end of it, these games keep that loop going, some on PC, some free, some on your phone.

We make Marrow March, so it is on this list; it is marked as ours and it comes last. The rest are games we would point a friend to.

  1. Outhold

Tellus Games · Windows, Mac (Steam) · Paid

The closest in shape: a short incremental tower defense with deep meta-progression. Start a run, see how far you get, buy upgrades with what you collected and try again, for about four to five hours from start to end.

  2. Crown Siege

JOrbits Games · Windows, Mac, Linux (Steam) · Paid

New and just as compact: a short incremental siege game in which you grow an army to defend your kingdom from an endless wave of goblins and worse, levelling your units and claiming crowns to unlock upgrades.

  3. Tower Dominion

Parallel 45 Games · Windows (Steam) · Paid

A roguelike tower defense in which you build the terrain itself, with 30 heroes to choose from and a pick of upgrades and rewards after every wave.

  4. Nordhold

StunForge · Windows, Mac, Linux (Steam) · Paid

Build a city between the waves: grow its economy, choose from more than 20 buildings, raise your hero, and let meta-progression carry you further every attempt.

  5. Tower Factory

Gius Caminiti · Windows (Steam) · Paid

Tower defense meets the factory game: conveyors feed your towers while monster waves come, and more than 70 meta-progression upgrades carry from game to game.

  6. Diplomacy is Not an Option

    Door 407 · Windows (Steam) · Paid

The horde at a bigger scale: more than 25,000 enemies storm your castle on procedurally generated maps, and the walls you build and the armies you raise are what keep them out.

  7. There Are No Orcs

BaseTrade Studio · Windows (Steam) · Paid

Despite the name, a close cousin: an RTS-roguelike hybrid with troops that fight on their own, where building placement and unit-commander combos decide the battle.

  8. The Tower – Idle Tower Defense

Tech Tree Games · iOS, Android · Free, with in-app purchases

On your phone: one tower against endless waves, and a workshop of permanent upgrades that every run pays into. Free.

  9. Infinitode 2

Prineside · Windows (Steam), Android, iOS · Free

Free on Steam and on mobile: endless waves on huge maps, and a research tree of more than 400 entries to grow between games.

  10. Marrow MarchOur game

Enes (us) · Desktop browser · Free

Our free answer: an incremental tower defense in the browser. A skeleton horde marches on the last wall, every fall pays Essence into a tree of 100 permanent upgrades, and the next run begins on the assault that broke the wall. Nothing to install.

How we chose

We kept games with the same two halves: a defense against more enemies than seems fair, and progress that carries from one run to the next. Steam's own list of similar games was our starting point, and the facts were checked against each game's store on 1 October 2026.
